Interactive Brokers

Using Interactive Brokers with Optioneer

Track IBKR portfolios manually, import supported CSV files, or use read-only Broker Sync when Interactive Brokers is available in your secure connection portal.

Broker Sync is read-only and used only for portfolio tracking and transaction import.

Optioneer does not place trades, execute orders, rebalance accounts, or request trading permissions.

Broker Sync requires an active, paid Premium subscription.

IBKR is currently the only brokerage Optioneer has validated end to end.

Optioneer does not place trades or request trading permissions.

For refresh timing, status meanings, disconnect behavior, and data-retention details, read the complete Broker Sync guide.

Ways to use IBKR data in Optioneer

Optioneer supports three ways to work with Interactive Brokers portfolio data:

  • Enter positions and trades manually.
  • Import supported IBKR CSV activity or position files.
  • Use read-only Broker Sync when Interactive Brokers is available in the secure connection portal for your account.

Interactive Brokers is currently the only SnapTrade brokerage connection Optioneer has validated end to end. Broker connectivity is provided through SnapTrade. This testing statement does not imply an IBKR partnership or certification.

Broker availability can vary by account type, region, and connection-provider support. If IBKR is not shown in the portal, manual tracking and CSV import remain available.

Connecting IBKR through Broker Sync

  1. An active, paid Premium subscription is required after the trial.
  2. Open Settings → Broker Sync and select “Connect broker.”
  3. Check whether Interactive Brokers is available in the secure connection portal.
  4. If available, authorize read-only access and select the accounts to connect.
  5. Return to Optioneer. If the connection is pending, the brokerage or connection provider may still be approving or preparing the account. Based on our experience, this often takes 1-2 business days, but timing varies.
  6. Once approved, Optioneer discovers the accounts and starts syncing automatically.

IBKR data and update timing

Depending on account and provider availability, Broker Sync can retrieve:

  • Current stock and option positions
  • Cash and account balances
  • Available transaction and activity history
  • Connection and account health

Positions and cash use current read-only snapshots. Transaction history follows a separate activity feed and can arrive later. A current position may therefore appear before its corresponding trade is available in Optioneer history.

Refreshing IBKR data

Eligible connected accounts update automatically in the background. The Portfolio page contains the primary “Refresh broker data” action. If a successful update finished less than five minutes ago, Optioneer reuses the current result instead of making a duplicate request.

Read-only guarantees

Broker Sync is for portfolio tracking and analytics only. Optioneer does not request trading permissions, cannot submit or modify IBKR orders, and does not trade on your behalf.

Brokerage relationship

Optioneer does not claim an Interactive Brokers partnership or certification. Broker Sync availability through SnapTrade does not imply endorsement by Interactive Brokers.

Security and privacy

Broker authorization is completed through the secure connection flow rather than by entering IBKR credentials in Optioneer. Sensitive access information is handled as confidential application data, and broker data is not sold. See Security, Privacy, and Data Deletion for related controls.

Troubleshooting

  • If IBKR is not listed in the portal, use manual tracking or a supported CSV import.
  • If Optioneer says reconnection is required, complete the secure reconnect flow.
  • If an expected account is missing, confirm that it is visible and active at IBKR.
  • If positions are current but a trade is missing, allow for the broker activity delay.
  • For help, contact Optioneer support with your account email and brokerage name. Never send broker credentials.
